Wee look at each other, ipo ho'opunipuni,
and see the tension in our heads -
you desire lasting love, now and forever,
as I desire friendship only, no chains.
You contain more beauty than the sea,
but chains would break wings like ice.
Look again, Kale, at my thoughts.
It only rains there when free,
and these showers are a mark of bliss.
I am much like a sweet hibiscus -
maybe good to look at, but I die
very easily when picked from the bush.
But we still miss the point in life -
we are - at heart - truly the same being.
You don't truly wish for breaking chains,
and I yearn for love and 'ohana.
If it's meant to happen, it will,
and only then will Malia become ipo.
(In other words, I'm tired of hearing about it. Please stop. If you're in such a rush, find someone else or risk my not being able to stand you.)
