Sunsets, sunrises, silhouettes and afternoons
Swallowed me up, like a great wine drenched ocean storm
My birth this beautiful immense lonesome shoreline
This moment my simple unnoticed magnificent heyday
My death the transcendental summit finally ascended
All I remember now is humility, splintered memories and shadows
Love, captured like photos under streetlights and power lines
Drunk, I swam the shallows like a minnow at midnight, naked
My spirit and heart tattooed upon my sleeve for all to see
I recited poetry under a glowing moon just like an ancient sage/bard
Under the eyes of your deceit, I came to trust the unknown
In the stillness of AM radio, I followed each spoken word and lyric
Drifting across nightmares, soaked in fear, hate, poverty and war, I drowned in chaos
This love will forever last like the fleeting melody of a 70s song, peaceful and lush like a summer day
Singing luminous are the stars, the universe still glows like embers, I burn for you
All along fire island, these are the years that dreams must arise, siphoned by the great spirit
Wiping away tears that descend like spring showers
Upon the decomposing leaves left behind, from the forgotten seasons of youth
These verses I will remember, and this curse forgotten
