Half a lifetime from the golden years
and the tides keep rolling in
and in the mighty waves I hear
their spirit calling me again.
Shaking sails and cetecean
and tales of yore unfold.
In the weeping wind my ancient friends
keep calling out to my soul.
Mr brothers deep keep calling my soul.
I hear them call when the sloop keel rolls.
Over the top I watch them blow
my brothers deep are calling my soul.
The big wheel kicks and the main sails grow
and my brothers deep keep calling my soul.
The windsongs play and the sheets fill up
and the brine is in my eyes.
I'm coming up with a roaring rush
the waves fall into the sky.
Cross the watery dawn the sun smiles in
and the blue-gray turns to gold
and my brothers deep and the restless wind
keep calling out to my soul.
Well I knew all along that we were one
where the sea always meets the sky.
The wheelhouse rocks on the morning run
now we're rolling side by side.
Over the top there's an old wild song
the sacred love songs of old.
When the trick is done and the run moves on
they keep singing on in my soul.
My brothers deep keep calling my soul.
I hear them call when the sloop keel rolls.
Over the top I watch them blow
my brothers deep are calling my soul.
The big wheel kick and the main sails grow
and my brothers deep keep calling my soul.
Truly poetic and very well

Rhyme, rhythm, beat & meter. Mother Goose. To me, that's what poetry is all about. I was looking over my critiques and saw yours. Never read you before so I thought I should. Glad I did. Excellent! That's the way I like it! Going back for more. P.S.Humpty Dumpty WAS pushed!

Eric, Great poem! Very descriptive, many great thoughts and words. Thanks~! I enjoyed it much!
Dear Eric, I enjoyed this poem as one of your best works. I did several years at sea and could certainly relate to the soul within the verse. Excellent.
