One to the East and One to the West: Sometimes when you stand very still, happiness will find you...

I try to find the fairies in the garden

But they fly, when I try.

I try to stand very, very still,

In the garden,

With the rusted tomato cages

Pricked into the ground, haphazard and awkward.

I stay closed eyed, then open

To surprise them in flight,

But they hide.

Deep in their secrets, deep in their places,

That I’ll never find,

They hide.

That happiness that comes to you

When you don’t really try,

They hide.

But, I do try, and try

In the garden I try,

Crouching in the gladiolas to

Find them.

Tangling in the bean pole twine

To hold one.

But, I see not one fly.

I see not where they landed

Where I couldn’t see,

On my shoulder blades,

Two,  one to the west and one on my east,

So, as I leave the garden unaware of my riders,

They flutter and giggle, as

I wonder, how long should I have stood,

To have happiness find me.

Thank you

It was a quasi happy ending because I'm still am not aware that I carry the happiness without even trying. But I did want it light and breezy and fantastical.  I tweaked it a bit, see what you think.

So much happened from when I

So much happened from when I first read it until now.

Happiness... Seems like an elusive thing. I just work to find it in little things. That way when the bigger shitty that wants to weigh us down has less heaviness to it. It's a practice, that an for sure.

In real life

In real life I am a hopeless optimist, accused of cheerleading, but in the realm of words my pessimism shines.  This however i find delightful in the images of fairies on my back like fairy wings. Thanks for the read.  I was persuing yours and I have enjoyed reading them.  I'll try and make comments when I can. And good advise to practice happiness in the small stuff.

I try to stay positive in

I try to stay positive in real life but sometimes my doubt and inner anger come bubbling to the surface. It's not easy always but I still have smile lines behind any frowns. I always enjoy reading your work!
