I see you walking by me
And search your face for recognition.
I fear’d you would forget me,
Disregard the hugs we’d shared.
But you smile and toss a joke
My way, and I have hope.
I know it’s unconventional,
Even controversial,
Though it shouldn’t be.
I don’t even know if this is even me,
Don’t know if you and I could ever be a ‘we.’
Is this what I want? You?
Could it be you want me too?
A fallen comment as we sit together
Makes me wonder
If you’re curious just like me.
A mass of confusion, I can’t tell
If this is heaven, or is it hell?
I can really feel the torn feelings from your heart after reading this poem. I especially liked the way you ended the poem with a rhetorical question...yet it wasn't. You were waiting for an answer. The hope that you talked about in your first stanza was only renewed after the joke. Your fear shines clearly. Did I mention that I really liked this poem? Sorry these thoughts are so scattered. :) And it really made me feel as though I'm not alone either.
