They are the means the Lord is pleased to use
To create the true master work
That He has in His mind,
That men should bid:

The great painter,
Whose brush paints the canvas,
Though the canvas be ignorant,
Inert under the artist's harsh brush strokes,
Keep in mind the work's end result,-
A splendid creation
Men salute and
Welcome.

The sharp chisel
The sculptor has to use
To make a glorious statue,
The stone groans and knows not why it must hurt,
But the Master knows what He wants,-
A lofty work of art,
That the world must
