Jesus heals a Leper

"Unclean Unclean" - went the beggar's shout,

To keep  the passers-by on high alarm,

To take another and much safer route,

Or make a turn and take a round about,

Should they be anxious not  to come to harm.

Entreating  passers-by to stay away

From the most loathful leper colony,

With  all the lepers with a skin of clay,

Or white behind their shrowds by night and day.

To hide  their repulsive corporeity.

Rejected by their own community,

The lepers are from everyone cut off,

From siblings, kin, old  friends  and family,

And from affection's warmth, and amity,

From the warm hand shake and embrace of love.

"Lord of thou willst  please make me clean, Lord please!

The outcast beggar leper low prostrate,

Begged for deliverance from dread desease,

"And let my faith and love for you increase,

My hungry soul to fill and well to sate."

Ans Jesus touched the Leper  without dread,

Touched rotting flesh,- a thing so unheard of,

And Lo! the man's flesh shining rosy red,

Was now afresh with strength and vigor clad,

To praise the Mercy of the Lord of Love.
