By the Light of the Night's Full Moon

By the light of the night's full moon

With a spirit of sorrow and unrest

I look toward that which is to come, soon.

I fear a darkened future, of Luna's darkened crest.

Where all hopes and fears of so young a world

In chance of meeting in starless night

Come and flow together down the river's water swirled,

And sun-dry in the sundry sands, out of sight.

A love, for so long from my heart begotten,

For those that my soul is by enchanted

Now seems that all love's forgotten

In the blazing forest singèd.

By the lights in the midnight air burning bright

I sit and contemplate an uneasy tomorrow.

And sing elegies to what might be, in my sight.

Though angels sing, there is within my heart a sorrow.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I couldn't sleep one night and about midnight I got up and wrote this. What was weighing so heavily on my mind was moving away to college and how I have distanced myself from my childhood friends.
