Amor Noster Redemptor

Who has believed our message?

To whom has the love of Yahweh been revealed?

He grew up like a tender shoot,

And like a root out of dry ground.

He had not beauty or majesty

That we should be attracted to him.

He was despised and forsaken of men

A man of sorrows, a companion of grief.

Like one from whom men hide their faces, he was outcaste;

We esteemed him not.

He took upon himself our wickedness and carried our sorrows,

And we considered and did curse him.

We deemed him smitten of God and afflicted.

But he was pierced for our transgressions.

His heart was broken for our iniquities.

The wrath of God against our sin was upon him,

He who was blameless.

By his scourging, we are freed. Our debt paid.

For we all like sheep without a shepherd have gone astray

Each of us has turned to his own way, cursing our God;

And God laid on himself the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted,

Yet he did not open his mouth to protest.

He was led like a lamb to the slaughter,

And as a sheep before shears, silent.

By oppression and judgment he was taken away.

He was cut off from the land of the light and undying

For the redemption of man

To whom the judgment stroke was due.

Yet it was his Father's will to crush him,

To cause him suffering.

Because his life is made as a guilt offering,

The will of the Lord Jehovah will prosper in his hand.

He will see the passion of his soul and declare the debt paid.

Because he has borne humanity's iniquities, he will live.

Because he died for the sins of many,

And interposed for the transgressors,

He will be exalted above all creation.

May it be.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is a paraphrase of Isaiah 53, my favorite chapter in the Bible. It describes the "Amor Noster Redemptor," the Passion (or love) of our Redeemer, Jesus. It was God's will (and His grief) that Jesus die for us that we might be saved. Isaiah was a poet and I encourage you to read his original version. Again, I have written about his death, but never forget his resurrection.
FYI- Amen means "may it be."

Hey Ryan,
WOnderfuly expressed writting of also my favorite scripture... as well as Isaiah 54...Romans 12... 1John 4:16... ect...
Little story about how I was shown this scripture.
It was like 3 in the a.m. when I woke up and could not get back to sleep, so I sarted asking the Lord what was the deal? I felt like I sould read some scripture, so I grabbed the bible and opened up into the New Testement. I fely the leading to read out of the Old Testement(at this time I was just coming into my calling). I did not consider the Old Testement a part of the bible to be read, old news I told myself. So I says to the Lord "ok, if you want me to read the old testement your going to have to show me were you are in it. So I closed the bible, prayed, and picked the bible back up and opened it. After opening the bible up and apon looking at the page I began to read these words..."Who has believed our report? and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed..."
Praise GOd!!!!He is Good , and does Good!
