Your lips,
Your eyes,
Are in are in your ordinary disguise
The people watch you,
And they see that perfect face,
But the truth you will never embrace.
But I know it's all a lie,
To find the truth will be a task....
But I want to see behind your sacred mask.
~ Claire Miller
Amen! First poem I liked
Amen! First poem I liked about masks....and they are a dime adozen on here.
They pull it out when guilt makes a visit,
They even go to churches with it,
The fear of a god weighs heavy on their mind,
Because of all things told to them,
They fear what their god will find,
Hell hovers over, and the loss of a heaven makes them cower,
And silent envy of those who don't
Makes hearts turn from sweet to sour,
Clinging to words, as if words were life,
And then bring the mask to hide under
Swallowed in webs looking lonely and sad,
Yet it's so epidemic and rife.
How could life be that bad is a wonder,
But I suppose wearing a mask is the biggest blunder,
When it comes to a worry,
Any human heart will do,
You never have walk around with a mask,
Or lonely and blue.

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
