Under conviction
for my sin,
I kneel and begin to pray
not having the words to say
that I am sorry, that it will never happen again.
I can only come before You
in humility,
seeking to be forgiven,
even though I deserve not
that You would forgive me.
Your grace, and Your mercy cannot be bought,
they come freely through faith
in the atoning blood of Your Dear son,
spilt there on the cross at Calvary.
This kind of love, I truly cannot understand,
yet I accept it on the basis of faith alone.
Knowing that it is the reason that Jesus chose to atone
for my every sin with His Divinely Precious Blood.
So, how could I sin against Him
I wonder; as my heart, for my own sin
is under conviction.
Under conviction
for my sin,
I kneel and begin to pray,
not having the words to say
that I am sorry, that it will never happen again.
The Holy Spirit joins me in prayer,
saying words I do not understand,
yet He is uttering my heart’s petition
in a language that only The Father can hear.
That He wants me to be forgiven, I comprehend,
that much is clear.
Suddenly, my heart is cleansed
of the guilt and stains left by my sin
This kind of love, I cannot truly understand.
