Rekindling

It began years ago with a spark—

            sudden, unexpected,

            yet strong enough to ignite a flame between two Souls,

            which was kindled, and became a fire within the hearts of both.

As is with many good things, there are issues that plague;

            for, alas, the haunting specter of malice was drawn to the fire,

            its brightness a signal pyre in the darkness of their being,

            calling out to be extinguished in the eyes of furious jealousy.

Manipulation overtook the Weaker Soul,

            twisting and turning the proverbial knife,

            bringing him into a false state of belief,

            resulting in his dousing his flame with tepid water.

Time stops for no mortal, and the years crawl by;

            the specter has gone, yet the burden remains,

            the Weaker Soul carrying it along always,

            an ever-present weight upon the shoulders of his conscience.
However, the journeys we take carry us to familiar territory—

            the Weaker Soul found its way to a crossroads,

            a chance of fate guiding it, perhaps,

            where the Gentle Soul happened to be passing through.

Uncertainty, the end result of years of unresolved issues, reigned,

            with neither Soul knowing how this came to be,

            how, after so long, to find one another once more,

            but still they carried on, treading unknown waters with calculated caution.

Yet, it would appear that caution, while a wise action, was for naught;

            a reconnection showed that the flames hadn’t truly been extinguished,

            the embers of the old pyre had burned deep,

            awaiting a new spark on fresh kindling to reignite what once was.

And now it seems that such an action has taken place,

            for uncertainty and anxiety seem to have been set aside,

            the comfort and happiness of the reunited Souls proving true,

            leading the two of them into the warmer places of the future to come.

  All seriousness, thank you

All seriousness, thank you though. It was one of the only few to flow so easily from the heart.
