I wrote this poem after my girlfriend told me she needed some time to think about what she wanted. We've known each other for two years but have only been together for a few months. Her only two serious relationships ended badly and she's afraid, I think, to commit herself fully to our relationship. I think telling her how I felt scared her. Surprisingly, it only took me 15 minutes or so to write this.
