Rome will acclaim you.  Leave all that to me.
I need no strike force in an armed excursion:
just whispered innuendos---said to be
passed forth by certain servants on Capri:
unfounded?---yes, but whispering perversion.

Rome dotes on scandal even in pretense.
The merely factual, plainly spoken, swerves few.
No rumor fails for lack of evidence;
and guilt wags more dogs' tongues than innocence.
Why quibble as you enter History?---
Tiberius, himself, said, "Rome deserves you."
