Trinkets and Treasure

Folder:
2005 Poetry

Artifacts old and covered with sand,

encrusted relics of Egyptian rule.

My mind wanders of these ancient times,

where Pharaohs ruled and slaves served.

Giant structures proving their might,

built over many decades of sacrifice.

People dying without pity or regard,

so Kings and concubines could pass on.

Trinkets and treasure buried for ages,

within the walls of these desert tombs.

Servants buried alive to serve their masters,

until air dried up and death took their lives.

Lives from long ago keeping secrets of old,

with man now attempting to decipher.

Guesses of thought by modern scholars,

educated in the ways of the old.
