I wrote this poem at a very tough time during my life.. so many things weren't going right. This is my outlook on depression, clinical or not, just when it's there. For those who are less metaphorical, I'm saying the Subway is depression itself. The bright lights that pass are actually the lights in the tunnel, but also the bits of happiness that pass my way, like my family, my friends; the ones who are always there for me. This point is stressed more in the poem, as the lights tend to actually lead me through the darkness like a flashlight. Thank god they know I'm scared of the dark.
