This poem was actually written in 1998. The disparity in copyright date is due to Poetry.com's way of dating things. I was surfing the 'net one day and a pop-up appeared offering a prize for poetry. I recognized it was a "vanity press" site, but thought I would see if I could compose extemporaneously. Though I will NOT buy into their moneymaking schemes, I have become a regular contributor, composing on the spot as needed...lol!
