For deeply personal reasons, and to write of one who has injured someone very, incredibly very, dear to me, I have added a reference to George Gordon, "Lord" Byron to the poem. Some scholar suggest that Polidori modeled his vampire on Byron; and that Stoker modeled his vampire on Polidori's. Byron is at the bottom of this cesspool of characters, as the man he represents, in this poem, is a dweller in cesspools---a man who casually injures the Beauty to whom I tacitly refer.
