Echo's Voice
Echo sang melodically,
and chatted endlessly.
Alone she'd sing to entertain,
herself and the birds.
With company a delicious gossip,
spreading rumors,
to the goddess' delight.
Her physical beauty enchanting,
her voice beguiling.
beautiful...lovely, calming and soothing.
I have always loved the way you expressed yourself..You know you have a fan in me & thats real.Damn i miss hearing from you homey
I have been awaiting the next Echo with great anticipation, and this one is well worth the wait. The Poet has changed her tone, here; compression is present, but the grammar is more conversational and less formal than the previous entry, and its Hellenistic voice. This change is not a defect; on the contrary, it is very much like music (i.e., a proper sonata in its various movements, keys, and timbres). What delights me most, in this poem, is how much she tells and how much she holds back---to lead the reader to the next poem in the series. And yet all of this happens in such a short space---and that, regardless of the tone, is Hellenistic compression. I consider it a privilege to be the first to comment on this poem, and I continue to anticipate more entries in the series. Rae---you have accomplished something rare among poets (and, yet, completely in line with your talent): a poem that is similtaneously contemporary and classic. Few can do that; I cannot; and I applaud anyone who can reach that difficult pinnacle.
