Have you ever? 7-2-00

Have you ever gotten so mad, but you hadn't a clue why?

Have you ever been so happy and yet at the same time you wanted to die?

Have you ever had terrible thoughts in your life?

All of these come from strife.

Have you ever known the truth, but couldn't say it?

Have you ever had your family treat you like shit?

Have you ever wanted so badly to burn?

All of these come from the lack of love you yearn.

Have you ever just needed to get away?

Have you ever ran to your room to stay?

Have you ever felt like there was no hope?

All of these come from people who don't let you cope.

Have you ever told all your thoughts and feelings to a piece of paper?

Have you ever said you'ld make changes but always waited til later?

Have you ever asked to see the proof?

All of these come from being afraid of the truth.

Have you ever wanted to badly to cry?

Have you ever felt all you could do to help was die?

Have you ever wanted to be in the crowd that beat the rest?

All of these come from being depressed.

Although you could say, " those all sound like me"

Why not think think of how you want it to be?

People live in such pain they don't realize all the beauty in the world, even in a drop of rain.

People waste time trying to be who they're not.

They don't realize we all have a certain place in the world, we all have our secret spots.

Sarah, this one is really deep, & yet straight to the point, as well....you have a wonderful way of nailing the truth, of being blunt, not quite to the point of abrasiveness, but just enough to challenge, & make people look deeper than they're usually comfortable going...(I recognize it, cuz that's what my writing's like, too...pushes buttons a little, but in a good way...)
i really enjoy your phrasing here, they way it all flows together...i especially like the part,

"People waste time trying to be who they're not.
They don't realize we all have a certain place in the world, we all have our secret spots."
That just says it all...most of the time, pain blinds us to the fact that it's a universal experience of life...I think that's part of why Jesus said He came to heal the broken-hearted...because everyone, at one point or another, has had their heart broken...
Your poem shows that pain doesn't have to be insurmountable...i guess it depends on whether we try to handle it in our own strength, or allow Him to carry us, when we can't even stand...
I look forward to reading more of your work!
