MISSED OPPORTUNITY
(T. Beechey)
Once again,I turned aside
Hiding from all my fears and doubts
Now I'm outside looking in
Where I've been all throughout
Standing just beyond the chance
As others advance to fill my space
I cannot face what's reflected back
The fact remains: I stopped the chase
I've walked away so many times
And I'm starting now to realize
As both my eyes fill with tears
The years, they do not shrink in size
Many times I've glimpsed the top
Only to stop and second-guess
And the rest's forgotten history
A mystery to me,no less
Why am I so afraid?
I should have stayed just to find
The peace of mind I'm looking toward
My reward --- now all behind
I've walked away so many times
And I'm starting now to realize
As both my eyes fill with tears
The years, they do not shrink in size
Eventually,the time will come
When all my chances will have passed
And the last thing I will say
"Is "Way too fast, much too fast..."
