Somewhere Tonight

Somewhere tonight,a newborn baby

Is crying out the first signs of life

Somewhere tonight,a man is deciding

On whether or not he should leave his wife

Somewhere tonight,a choir is singing

A teardrop is falling, someone is clinging

To a hope that someone soon will be bringing

Some good news --- somewhere tonight

Somewhere tonight,an old man is waiting

For open arms to welcome him home

Somewhere tonight,a poet's debating

The forthcoming line to a half-written poem

Somewhere tonight,the moon has arisen

And lightened the walls of a darkened prison

And a young girl's made a crucial decision

That might haunt her --- somewhere tonight

Somewhere tonight,children are playing

And laughter abounds as time passes by

Somewhere tonight,a doctor is saying

That it sounds as if time for one has grown nigh

Somewhere tonight,there's great jubilation

Independence has come to a war-torn nation

And a traveler stands in anticipation

Along a roadside --- somewhere tonight

Somewhere tonight,just an outline remains

Etched in chalk which fades with the rains

And somewhere tonight, against all the grains

Someone has triumphed over their pains
