CAGE OF OUR HEARTS

  ( love & freedom depend on perspective )

Your step was once---just yesterday---so light! So free!

Your face lighted from within when you saw me!

Your arms spread wide, hands gentling towards our touch!

Your voice, your laugh, your grace---Oh!, I miss you so much!

How can such love, so pure, so clean, so sweetly innocent,

be thought “misguided”, “misdefined”, not as our hearts meant?

Which words went wasting, which act was called—by whom—a sin?

How many words, years, will it take to restore true love again?

That little girl (15) that I once saw behind your lovely eyes,

Is still there hiding---not well hidden, for you taught me your disguise;

& as my love flows to your cage, & strokes you through the bars,

it gives strength to your weaknesses, & heals itself & YOUR scars.

For you are the definition of sweetness: your name is my song!

Your laughter claims from angels what to only them should belong!

Soul’s Sister, you bring me Peace; Life’s completion is in your power!

Your smile, your words, your sighs compress Eternity into one hour!

I begin to see, from evidence you cannot well hide,

The answer is : you’ve never been loved by a heart this wide;

you’ve never been loved TRULY before, in all your lovely life;

or TRULY  befriended, or TRULY beloved, or TRULY a wife.

Until now you hadn’t found that lovely man you need so, & deserve too.

The one with the dreams you’d share in sweet trust, & who’d ever be true.

But I HAVE FOUND YOU! Let me surround you with this ocean of love!

Your broken wings have healed; you can attain to the heavens above!

Since you are healed & strong, I must let you fly on your own .

Swim in my love, or spread your loveliness &  soar to a new home;

But I beg you, sweet Sparrow, sweet Singer, do not fly away;

Don’t leave my empty heart emptier;  please, Oh! PLEASE  stay!

And even years ago the author releases the sensitiveness of the heart.

I found myself wishig as I was reading this that my daughter had in her life the very thing you wish for this young woman.

A very wonderful read my friend as always. I will try to be roaming the halls tomorrow and maybe will even be able to find a minute to add something to my site. Watch for me.

Love to you and yours
Lesa
