The moment that you step off of the plane...
I remember why I love you.
Has it really been five years, no five minutes...I'm sure.
It was so very important, you explained,
that you find the places where the snow falls silent and pure.
Your world was not of cities and malls.
Yours was a soul that couldn't be grounded,
yours was a need ~ to be surrounded by all that nature tames.
So, you wonder through the mountains...
awaiting that perfect snow fall...
to capture in a photograph, just one more, lets take 'em all.
And...
you send me frozen lilies pressed into tattered art,
to be perserved 'till I thaw with you again,
like the avalanche that explodes in my heart,
every time I see you ~ even though ~ I know I'll never win.
Outstanding eye catching title!
Poems to the true spirit of friends and or loved ones really touch the heart. You wrote this so beautifully. From what I've read you heard this person's voice even when they didn't really speak vocally to you. That came through to me so very clearly. That is a spiritual connection. I know that feeling well. Please continue sharing your poetry again. I enjoy reading it. Sincerely, Melissa Lundeen.
Geneva, This is beautifully touching... Reminds me a Stevie Nicks song, "Landslide" which is one of my favorites. Your poem made me tear up. Penned with much soul~ thanks for sharing

People don't run out of dreams they just run out of time.
I like this poem and the wording! I have spent much time in the mountains myself and this brings those memories to mind! I understand his love of nature! I like the way this poem was constructed, the style!
