Washing dishes in her evening gown
She waltzes across the floor
She takes a bow with her partner, the pan
Her invisible audience clapping for more
Dressed up for a casual evening
The same little girl who sings with her mouth full
Opera or rock concerts, it doesn't matter
She waves as into an empty crowd she's pulled
Pressing down the rapid-fire button
She'll pause her heavy action game
To read her romance book and melt
Both worlds and herself into the same
Perfect khakis now stained green
She freshened up before mowing the lawn
Gotta look best for all those weeds
She knows that gasoline perfume is the best turn-on
Can't sleep when it's raining
Too busy believing each drop
is another fall of the horse's hooves
Her shining knight riding atop
Putting on mascara while she's driving
Not really caring where she goes
She's got a deadline appointment
But where she's headed, no one knows
She'll tie her sail boat to her belt
She paints her nails while walking in the sand
Daydreaming of that streaming white horse
And the hero coming to simply hold her hand
Years have passed and they're passing still
The same silly girl deep inside she'll always be
Can't help her silly little habits, and never will
Surprised as she looks in the mirror to see
That girl is me.
Haha! this one caught me right away! it was hilarious, but cute, and funny and touching all at the same time.
Katie,
I really enjoyed this one. You are quite the writer.
Keep it up,
