They were there the day you were born,
They swore to care for you and make you great
You were the first born son, the inheritor, the caregiver
And you would grow to be the one who would protect others
You were now 3 and you had a sibling on the way
You had to be the big brother, take care of your sibling
And yet you were not loved any less, treated any better or worse
Everyone was the same, loved equally
He was born and you were the proud brother
Willing to care for him, you would do anything for him
That is your job, your task, your quest
Take it with care, precision, passion
They were there, for you, for him, for her
They never left, never would, still haven't
This is for them, this poem, song, heart
They are your forever, your soul, your reason
This is for Mom, the one with the beatiful soul
Songful heart, caring arms, loving smile
This is for Dad, stern and understanding
Advisory words, fierce eyes, intense mind
This is for Brother, Justified and Defended
Absolute and never waving, masterful hands, stubborn body
This is for Sister, First born and First to parenthood
Motherly and Feisty, quick to judge quicker to forgive, hopeful for the future
This is for them, they were there, they made us
We are Anonymous
They are the ones who made us
Made us who we are
Proud, Strong, Stubborn, Masterful
We are the shield that protects
The sword that defends
The shout that rallies
We. Are. Here.
Thank you for your sacrifices
Thank you for your love
Thank you
Now it's my turn
My turn to pay it back tenfold
This is my heart on paper
In my hearts words
Eternity will do nothing
But make me stronger
