The decision of the jury?- To do a life term,

And inevitably die- And hopefully I'll learn.

Somewhere along the way- The lessons that were taught,

But I can only pray- So I close my eyes and talk.

Seeing through the dark- There's a flicker of hope,

But it's off in the distance- And I'm hanging on by the rope.

Screaming out for help- But no one can hear me,

It's my own fault- 'Cuz I let no one near me.

But that's ok with me- I was born by myself,

So I choose to travel alone- But I know I was felt.

I can see it in their eyes- Something's change,

Being touched by my hands- They're not the same.

"They" being- Those who can relate,

Holding on to my thoughts- And feeling what I say.

It seems I gave it all- And I have nothing left,

I was sentenced to Life- But I'm destined for Death.

Fighting through the struggles- To ultimately die,

It's said not to question it- But I must ask why?

Why the Life full of hurt- If in the end it was a waste,

Why crawl through the dirt- Never feeling safe?

Why endure the cold- If in the end you'll feel the heat,

Why believe in Him- If He doesn't believe in me?

So many questions- I'm so full of confusion,

People call Life a blessing- Then why do we keep loosing.

Struggle is a given- This much I understand,

But when is enough "enough"- How much can one man withstand.

Until I take my last breath- I'll continue to fight,

Although I'm destined for Death- I'm sentenced to Life
