I'm confused of what to think- It seems everytime I blink,
I miss something new- But that's natural instinct.
So many changes have occurred- Yet things are still the same,
A wise man once said- "Things will never change"
I'm white and I've grown up in a predominantly black neighborhood,
I've picked up on the lifestyle- Discriminated against,
Wait no, I'm sorry- "Misunderstood"
The politically correct term- That's what they'd use,
Different strokes for different folks- Different people have different views.
I hear the older white people use the word "nigger",
And everytime it's said- The taste in my mouth becomes more bitter.
I hear the older black people- Use the term "cracker",
And I find it funny when the white kids- Try to be blacker.
They try to be blacker than any black person I know,
They claim to be thugs- But live in a 2 story home.
Surrounded by a gate- Guarded entry to their "hood",
So many things in this world- That I've never understood.
What's the point of hate- So much time we waste,
On disliking others- Causing a constant debate.
I can relate to those who feel discriminated against,
I can also relate to those who are tired of hearing about "the man" and his "friends".
You see, I am one of the few- Who have actually viewed,
The subject from both sides- The "abuser" and the "abused".
I've witnessed both fights- Practically lived both lives,
I only have on question for everyone- Why?
Why waste so much time on hating another,
And why point a finger to blame- Just help each other.
Help those who don't know- Understand the hard life,
And don't think you're better just because you're white.
So many changes have occurred- Yet things are still the same,
I guess it's true when they say- "Things will never change".
