Never Realize Until It's Gone

I guess the old cliché is true, even after this long,

You don’t realize what you have until after it’s already gone.

Whether it be wealth, friendship, advantages or Love,

That saying automatically applies to all of the above.

You have it so close and you always take it for granted,

Until one day it isn’t there and you see someone else may have it.

Then you get jealous and mad and aggravated all at the same time,

You begin to think, “I remember when that was mine.”

A since of urgency falls upon your heart as you realize that you miss it,

And you try to conjure up plans just so you can try to get it.

Get it back and this time you vow that you’ll appreciate,

But when your plans fail you begin to realize it’s too late.

You’ve lost it, it’s gone, it’s left your life forever,

And you make a promise to yourself saying that you’ll never.

Never again un-appreiciate and never again take for granted,

Because you never realize exactly what you have until you no longer have it.
