WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

There was time

Too much time

Time to learn

And while away

Time to yearn

But not to say

What was in your heart

There were other days

To be direct

To play less coy

To intersect

The feelings and the words

But looking back

With some dismay

We feel a lack

Of time today

The only thing

That we have learned

Is what we did not say

This is such a profound statement and nicely put. Great piece of poetry!
