guillotine girl

this is how I leave here

when your blade pulls me out of the universe

and into my head.

an electric shock

that could have stolen me

faster than your sharp tongue.

interpret that

how you wish.

fix me

fix me

lose me again

like the morning the sun froze my bones

and you took my breath

with a single command.

in the spring

I lost my mind.

fitting that I came apart

when I should have been

coming alive.

life and theft

meld my sins together.

I see it in their eyes.

every courtyard a masterpiece

and I know all their names,

I could sign all the shards with my broken wrists.

the sound could have been

a feather or a stone.

I might not be here anymore

but you draw me back

with that sweep of your pen.

you signed my life away

now take it back,

breathe something into those lungs

that no longer have something to speak.

so do what you want.

take me down.

paint my blood on your tassels

and walk like it’s warpaint.

I only need a day to be

guillotine girl.

Incredible Write

Especially like "life and theft meld my sins together". But this poem has so many zingers and fantastic 1 liners

"It is a terrible thing to be so open. It is as if my heart put on a face and walked into the world" -- Sylvia Plath.
