+ 1ST POEMS: Faith That Is Stellaring, 2

Christ declared that He is the Bright and Morning Star.

He has given us---the joy of the Common Salvation,

the Faith that saved us (reeling in sin's lurch);

through which we are joined to the great congregation---;

to worship in fellowship with the Orthodox Church:

not in the least diminished by adversarial temptation.

To all this, these poems bear witness in celebration.

Oh, my soul---rejoice in the blessings that are

yours; bear witness to them with words you offer in a mood

of ultimate and enveloping gratitude.

Starward, an Orthodox Christian

Author's Notes/Comments:

The first line alludes to Revelation 22:16, one of my favorite Biblical verses.  The poem also aludes to Jude 3, Ephesians 2:8, Psalm 35:18, and Romans 16:16  Cited here, these references and allusions will also appear in several subsequent poems.  The Common Salvation, a quotation from the Epistle of Saint Jude, refers---for the purposes of my poetry---the Faith of the Orthodox Church.  The great congregation, a quotation from Psalm 35, refers. for the purposes of my poetry, to the Faithful of the Orthodox Church.  These Scripture verses will have the same uniform meaning wherever and whenever they appear in my entire collection of poems on this site.

The morning star as a prelude

The morning star as a prelude to the massive spiritual revolution that is Christianity: an inspired observation. You interpret the Name's monumental significance with elation and power. The Star "guides and directs the stellaring faith of Christianity" and is "our astronomy". The name is not just a beautiful metaphor, it is of astronomical proportions in our lives. It is majestic. It reigns forever.

A stirring call to great heights and worthy praise to the Star that guides us.

I apologize for my delay in

I apologize for my delay in responding to this wonderful comment.  I am glad and grateful for what you have seen in the poem.  I think poems if this kind, among others, are what I am supposed to be doing with my time at this stage in my life.  Thanks again for the encouragement.
