+ 27.225 MHz: After RSV Psalm 11:1

[for Patriciajj, postpoems' most cosmic Poet]

In the Lord I take refuge . . . (RSV Psalm eleven:one)---

so wrote the Poet, David, the lover of Jonathan;

David, ancestor after the flesh, of Christ Jesus, God's Son;

Messiah; Prophet, Priest, and King; the Promised One;

Who walked in Eden's beauty, in time's pristine beginning,

but did not abandon two reprobates despite their lapse into sinning;

Who bore my cross, and on it died, in terriblest agony

(outside Jerusalem, on a ridge the Romans called Calvary)

to redeem my dying soul to life with Him eternally;

Who rose from the tomb in the triumph of Resurrection

and thus bestowed on my existence a spiritual direction,

that has expanded it into His gracious abundancy,

that my joy in His Salvafic gift should always be more and not less.

Even timeless eternity will not suffice to tell all that He has done---

and each offered prayer answered---despite my unworthiness.

Nor need I care that haters despise my love for J-Wave:

for Love is the essence of God, of which the Faithful are partakers

and shall not shipwreck on the shoals of prejudice and its stormdriven breakers.
Though the Lord's cosmos is vasy beyond measure, beautiful and huge,

the Lord and only the Lord is and shall ever be my refuge.

Author's Notes/Comments:

The poem also alludes to several other Scriptures in the KJV:  1 Samuel 18:1; Matthew 1:1 and 6; Hebrews 4:14; Genesis 3:8 and 15; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Luke 23:33; John 10:10; 1 John 4:7; 2 Peter 1:3-4; 1 Timothy 1:19 (all of these in the KJV).

The octave of January 9th through 16th is, annually, a time of introspection.  Having followed the year 2021, in which the days from March 1st through December 31st align and synchronize with the same period from 1976, the best year of my life, the days of this week synchronize and aline with the best week of my life, in 1994, when I became a Christian (January 9th) and was baptized (January 16th).

I hope, in this year and in the time remaining to me, to write the kind of poems to which I aspired in the earliest days of my ambition to become a Poet---beginning its first phase on October 13th, 1975 to June 14th, 1975.  This ambition would be confirmed by a deeply spiritual experience on July 16th, 1994.

The poem basically emerged into my words exactly as I have posted it here; this is, essentially, both the first and final draft.  I believe, however, that the poem would not have taken its present form without the inspiration of the cosmic poems of Patriciajj.  Hence, its dedication.

It's a privilege to witness

It's a privilege to witness the evolution of this elevating and inspiring collection that has all the hallmarks of Starward: devotion, hope, triumph and rare artistry. Your love for Christ and His special gift to you, Cerulean, was palpable and dynamic as you defied intolerance and decreed that Love is the first and the last purpose of your eternal existence. Powerful stuff!

All this truth and adoration was delivered in a choral voice that sounded, to me, like a Gregorian chant or an Orthodox hymn. So majestic and very impressive that this jewel showed up unbidden and ready to post.

Thank you kindly for the dedication.

Thank you so very much for

Thank you so very much for those words.  I am grateful for your acceptance.  Your own example is a guidepost to other poets---and so it has been to this poem.  Your superlative compliments inspire me to continue on with other poems like this that have, of late, presented themselves to me.
