. . . for one star differeth from another star in glory.
---1 Corinthians 15:41
In his theory, stars were either bright or dark;
the bright, he asserted, would evolve to some other stage,
and the dark would simply sputter out to collapse
upon themselves to become outposts of hell.
He hated the phrase, "naked eye,"
but he hated the instrumentation that others had built
even more;
and the sheer irridescence of the stars he judged
damaged his eyes into incurable blindness.
And all the stars became, to him, dark and damned.
Misnavigated, an effect of his obstinacy,
his vessel crossed the Schwarzschild Radius,
and the force of a darkened, neutron star
pulverized him, and his ship, into
the particles leftover from shattered atoms.

A heart-stopping cautionary
A heart-stopping cautionary tale that I feel could be a metaphor for how hubris and arrogance lead to destruction. A wise, powerful and skillfully penned voyage.
Thank you so very much. I
Thank you so very much. I really appreciate your insight, and, as you always do, you have gone right to the poem's gist with your always profound wisdom.
