The newest member of the Ordination
Committee of the Freewill 'Sociation,
you spoke---about my wife---also to me---
with zealous excess of hostility.
Four months, they tell me, you feel that way still.
When I first raised my late candidacy
to preach, it was welcomed.  So  I believed.
But your behavior proved I was deceived.
But Our Lord, Jesus Christ, the Regnant, used
that meeting---in which you loudly abused
me and my wife---as the proximate cause
that gave me---no, demanded that I pause
and look for more than just the simile)
to Chapel Christian spirituality.
And that insists that, if I am to live
lie Early Christians, I, too, must forgive
you, and I will not risk a fool's damnation
by hating both you and the 'Sociation.
Only complete forgiveness, now, will do,
with nothing left to quench, nothing to fill
My Chapel faith does not just ask, "Will you?"
but rather, speaking to me, says. "You will."
