Epigram On Pasternak's Poems

"Pasternak's Zhivago poems are profouondly beautiful,
but they exist on the foundation of Tyutchev's more
profound, and more universal, love poetry.  Not even
the Bolshevik's revolution could alter the Christian poet
Tyutchev's achievement in the similtaneity of its delicate
structure and massive literary influence."

---Anonymous term paper on "Russian Love Poetry,"
submitted September 13---November 19, 1976

Councillor Tyutchev, you were really with me
that last week of my first term of college
despite my crude, provincial lack
of literate or anecdotal knowledge.
That term's classes' final test
ended more quickly than most of the rest:

I spend the free time reading Pasternak---

"Zhivago," whose poems emerged, historically,
out of the grandeur of your love poetry.

How intertwining poetry and

How intertwining poetry and poets are over the span of centuries and languages, even. My mother introduced me to Zhivago, not quite intentionally. That led me to look into the work of Pasternak. And now at this junction I will embark on the poetry of Tyutchev. Thanks so much for sharing.
