Forbidden desire sweeps through me
with a single thought of him.
How swiftly time seems to fly
when your heart is broken
and you wander lost and alone.
They say time can heal all wounds
but can a broken heart be fixed
when I caused it to myself?
They say memories fade with time
but that weekend haunts me
growing more defined
with each passing day.
I wish I could go back to that last day.
I would never have left his side.
Drowning in my thoughts of him,
I long for an escape.
Almost two years later
and all of me still belongs to him.
I sit and wonder where he is
beneath these starry skies.
I contemplate running out to where
we once were one,
to see if ghosts of our past
still linger in the darkness.
My eyes bleed tears of sorrow
for the purest love I've ever known.
If only things were different...
If only I was his...
