Once upon a dream
I could see you
behind my loneliness.
You came into my life,
broke through the brick wall
surrounding my heart,
and made me believe
dreams could come true.
That was before,
this is now.
I know not what to do
to ease the sorrow
you left behind.
That brick wall
was my protection
from guys like you.
And now I don't
believe in dreams.
You killed them all
when you turned around
and walked away
from the destruction
you caused in my life.
What once was beautiful
is now destroyed
and the brick wall
has been replaced
by one of steel.
Now no one can break
into my heart.
And the dreams
I have left
will be protected
from corrupted souls
like the one you had.
