The Day of Recreation

I can't bear to see,

The world of today;

It really hurts me,

Seeing darkness in day.

Creatures are being chained,

Man is killing man;

The whole world is changed,

In such a short span.

Is man so wretched,

That he cannot see?

He has been wicked,

To each bird, each tree.

Can't he see their pain?

Can no one hear me?

The world is in vain,

The earth is not free.

I'll wait for the day,

Day of recreation,

When everyone's gay,

And in jubliation.

When everyone's free,

And small sparrow sings,

I will say with pride,

We are 'loving' beings!

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem is about the things I see but I don't like them... I wish to change them but I can't.
I wrote it in my school on the spot poetry writing contest and also got a prize.

Nice way of putting forth the unpleasant fact in a striking way. It really has got stuff and is worth appreciable for winning the prize at that age.

I wish your dream of "recreation" were to come true. Liked this most: "When everyone's free,/ And small sparrow sings,/ I will say with pride,/ We are 'loving' beings!" Thanks for sharing. Salam..

I somtimes see songs in almost everything serene and beautiful... Though the subject matter is far from serene the way in which you handle the negitive images frees the soul from misery and birth hope in the finaly line's: "When everyone's free, And small sparrow sings, I will say with pride, We are 'loving' beings!" Great poem
