i used to know

when we 1st met

so long ago

things have changed

we both grew

you're not the same girl

i once knew

time changes people

there's no one to blame

things are different

nothing stays the same

our goals in life change

the rules to the game

and then before you know it

you'll never be the same

don't show regret

no guilt, no shame

it's not our fault

things can't be the same

you were looking for love

i was looking for fame

life has changed us both

we're no longer the same

i wonder if you've had

any luck with men

you wonder if i've had

any success with my pen

well, it's good to say hello

and wonder how you've been

and promise to keep in touch

yeah, sure was good to see you again

but the distance between us

has gradually grew
