Daddy passed away

You left me with your flowers

Your Jasmine shrubs and lemon trees
But you forgot to take their fragrance
And our conversations in the kitchen after tea

You left me with your motorbike
But forgot to take the rides
And the sound of music
You so loved
And the touch of your soft hands around me

You left your cigar box
And your coat on the rack
You left the watch by the drawer
But you forgot to take the moments
Forgot to take your smile

You left your rosary
And the calligraphy on the wall
You recited so well
“In the name of GOD Most Merciful”

Author's Notes/Comments:

Ty Olwen is a specialist palliative care unit for the terminally ill patients. They are an outstanding unit and a visit inspired the poem. It is about my father.
