I sat through the night
Reciting poetry
Verse after verse
On Friendship,
Love and intimacy
Stanzas of melancholy
Yearning peeping between lines
You seemed lost
On another planet
We needed to be upfront
Not cocooned in prejudice
When you stood up
I felt
A winter chill
On such a lovely
Summer night
Author's Notes/Comments:
(Third in the Heart Beat series)
This is the continuation of Heartbeat and What if? It is the third in the series as this one sided fascination gradually flickers to its end. I still cannot believe that she could be so selfish and cold and that is why I have used the word prejudice. May be it had to do with my being colored. I thank all of you who suggested and thought she would love it “the first poem” “Heart Beat” but she said don’t ever mention it to me I don’t want to look at it, never. May be she was not worth it. Unlucky girl?
Again a lovely and moving poem. But my dearest friend, won't you tell me who is this cruel being that has hurt you so much. Do tell me for I long to know.
