What is the purpose of life?
To raise the children, have a wife!
Getting up in the morning,
Brushing, bathing and hurriedly changing
To be on time, better not be late
The chores start on the dot, at eight
Working here and there through out the day
Finding time for everything, except to say
Thank You (Prayers) Dear God for this life's gift
Which with its distractions passes very swift
Mornings change to evenings, and home again
Tired, relishing a cup of tea to conserve the energy drain
Echoes of childrens laughter and innocent mischiefs
The only respite for a day spent in labour and grief
Then comes the night and the merciful sleep
Yet across the realms the soul does weep
For another day in the life has come to an end
Whatever that was worldly earned will he spend
Caught in this day-in-day-out whirlpool
Wasting this precious gift like a fool
Spun into a web from the cradle to the grave
Empty handed returns to the master, the slave
Alas repentence is all that is there
Should have harkened the call and not dare
Linger on with the purpose of my life
To spread the message, and strive
For the hereafter which is long standing and better
Providing peace and joy, forever and ever
I really like how you describe the purpose of life. This poem really inspired me. Thank you and keep writing!
