Those Tiny Gestures of Love

Have you ever received a gift,

       One that comes without cause.

A simple little something with regards,

A treasure of love that brings a pause.

Have you ever woke to aromas,

The smell of breakfast on the stove.

To hot coffee in the making,

       Those symbols of undying love.

Perhaps it's been shown in other ways,

Some more expensive to the touch.

But the cost and size don't matter,

It's the thought that means so much.

These are the things couples grow on,

They're what marriages are made up of.

Those are signs of lasting admiration,

       Those tiny gestures of love.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I used to watch my parents and how they adored one another...that inspired this poem.

Oh, how this brings back memories. I love this one. Any time I get lonely for my Jim, I think of days like the morning portrayed here and I warm up inside.
