Blank, inept, surreptitious and unique
Statues of cold derision,
Figure (Fork) their tongues to speak,
As they stand silent and still,
Message held firm,
A truth bringing across a cryptic chill,
A message most yearn,
Vacant holes lying within monuments lore,
Eyes set in stone,
which
Cut straight to the core,
Intimate draw to gawk at perfection,
Amongst the subtle,
Reveals the institution of religious desecration,
For art speaks in subtle tongue,
A message all are welcome to hear,
As throughout the ages is the message rung,
Yet tis it not a message conversed through the ear,
Much rather is it a song forced through fear…
May I
ask,
Is this about making idols of traditions?
about staying to those ideals?
trying to understand this.its expertly penned and to me it's deep.
With all respect,
Koko

I like the fact that you chose to comment! Every time I hop on this site and see that it brings a warm feeling to my soul :) But what you took from this (Although open to interpretation) is somewhat the gist of what I was trying to get across. I was just trying to write something in my downtime, as I had felt I did not write something in quite some time, and thought I owed myself something worth meaning. Now back to the poem it is like how our society worships false idols that look perfect in their sculptings, but really are not when put into the perspective of reality. How something such as statues can have effects over, not just countries, but lifetimes. Now I ain't flogging at religion, as I see religion as our way of hope and understanding, but much rather that much go blind to the actual meaning of what religion actual is. Like the statue, their view of religion is cold and lifeless... I don't know it is just me free writing to get my mind off work and my day-to-day life, but I have a tendency to go deep in thought when doing this kind of stuff; and I have been getting pretty good at it to. ;P

i appreciate the great feedback! If I read poetry, which Ilove, I want to fully take it in and feel it. The write here was interpreted that way by me. I feel many things have become "idols" in entrapping minds to stray from true virtue of goodness and love for self and all mankind.
thank you,so kindly for an answer you write so very well, I hope to see more!

You knew IZ? That's amazing... I have always loved his music and his message and to meet someone who actually had close relation to him is simply maginificant. I cannot even put it into words except that it is in fact a small world after all.

After 2 readings I remembered my 1st look live on lady Liberty, like Liberty Leading The People (during a visit to the DIA) I felt diminished, then was captured between idea and awe, cold material, paint and copper, realizing the power statues of gods have played in history. Nice write. ~A~
Thank you lady A yeah a lot
Thank you lady A yeah a lot has happened through history with idolizing a statue rather then an idea or the values of others and I hope we can one day grow past that and see into each other as people to help one another grow. its possible i believe so :) anyway thank you for commenting and reading means alot ~Shandiin
