Shades of Grey

I am an angel stripped of his wings

bearing scars I cannot hide-

the mark of the beast

Salvation doesn't know my name

Salvation doesn't come for me

Salvation cast me away

And now I sleep on a bed of nails

swimming in and out of dreams

And everything I see is grey

Tell me what it means

Tears for the past

A rose for the dead

The deceptive smile on my lips

Scatter the ashes

then breathe until

you breathe no more

If you want beauty

you won't find it here

nor will you find love

You want redemption

but you cannot even

survive the fall

Come with me-

Bury your dreams

and make sure

you bury them deep

Come-

crucify the angels

if you dare

Tear off their wings

Drive the nails into their palms

as Heaven did with me

Come-

Scatter the ashes

and breathe no more

If one is damned then

aren't we all

And I'll weep for you

as long as you weep for me

and drink my tears

as we watch the angels

falling from the sky

and realize Hell is a

paradise of another kind

built in shades of grey

Very nice work. There are not a whole lot of people who can write a tolerable poem that has no rhyme, but you pull it off wonderfully. Your words paint a vivid image that anyones imagination can atttain. Yet it still has depth. Keep it up, and you'll go far.
