Julius Caesar

Our Latin class in studying Julius Caesar's writings on the Gallic Wars

in which many were sent to Roman soldier arranged gallows and our English class in reading Shakespeare's Julius Caesar were never

told what a barbarian sadist he was

full of demonic ire

in just one of many events

of 6000 the crucifier

-----

footnote;

revolting slaves were crucified

When I studied Ancient

When I studied Ancient History, I very fastidiously avoided Julius Caesar.  I was aware of the 6000 pirates he had ordered crucified, after capture, in vengeance for kidnapping him earlier.  As for being a barbarian sadist, one of his most virulent critics---the Poet, Catullus---does not mention this aspect.  So, help an old History Major out, if you would, and tell me your sources.  I should like to read more about that.
