If Time...

If time be mine, let

me live until that which

exists and breathes deep,

within the confines of

mine mortal flesh, does,

if cut loose from, this,

the mortal coil, continue

its task in silence.

Still. silent. And yet,

beating. As if to remain

known, if only unto my

immortal soul, what life

time ends, in all its

profound glory and

sequential majesty.

That I might love thee with

all that is in me. And that

I might know thee, as such.

Let it be so, that the limpid pools,

that are thine own soul's

windows would, alas,weep for

me, so sweetly. The sojourn

to sorrow be so great and

without measure, as to count

wouldst be a curse, for a

score of generations yet

unborn.

Know thee, then, if time

be mine friend, what wanders

might I take, end in

peace and light.  As I now

know the truth of thine

heart, and its precious

contents.  Let it then

be heralded, though I be silenced,

before all men.  That thou

wouldst love me, always.

Until eternity and eternities...end.

If time be mine...

Author's Notes/Comments:

One of the first poems I wrote, this piece is sort of psuedo-shakespearean and speaks of the eternal love that the author is declaring to his betrothed. The depths and measures expressed add dramatic intensity to the work. One of my favorites.
