In infancy-
Mothers cuddled, fed and cleaned you when needed.
(bonding)
As a toddler-
Mothers did the best to teach right from wrong.
No matter what size your mother was, she was big in your eyes.
As a child-
Mother's nurturing continued as well as the decisions of right from wrong.
During puberty-
Mother's rules become stricter and for most of us we obey. We learn that to obey whether right or wrong is respect.
As a teen-
Mother's rope gets tighter yet the respect remains through differences of opinion.
As an adult-
Mothers are not as big and strong as we once remembered.
As a senior citizen-
Mothers become smaller and weaker, for some of us, and we pray that our respect remains intact.
Mothers-
We Are Not Perfect.
We did the best we knew how.
To All Mothers:
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
YOU are not alone...
beautiful..beautiful
my mother worked 16 hours a day for 20 years
with a job, an invalid husband, and a family to raise
her getting up at 5 am after going to bed at midnight
or 1.. just thinking about it made me want to sleep
Another slice-of-life poem from you, Linda! Love your works and the way you present them- with heart!!
Linda, in ways i agree, but mothers can be perfect at least one stage in their lives i am sure you will have been. i know i only want one mother and that is mine, but any other like you, i would also be thrilled with toni xxxxxx
Great poems, it is wonderful! This is a great one, for everyone to read b/c this peom is telling the truth Mothers aren't prefect, for us girls that are going to be Mothers we won't be prefect either, and we aren't suppose to be, that isn't why Mothers are here, they are here to love, care, and support kids!
