The Star
I look up, and I see it.
I see the star that I saw the night I fell in love with you.
I can tell it from all the rest because it is identical to the sparkle you had in your eyes the night you first kissed me.
The night you captured my heart.
The night you touched my soul.
The night I became yours forever.
I lay there and gaze at it almost in a daze.
The longer I gaze at it, the more it changes.
At first it confused me, abut now I know what it is.
Its changing into you, but not the you of today.
Its changing into the you I saw that night.
The night you held me close to you and kissed me ever so gently.
The night you showed me the real you.
The night you wrapped me in your arms,
Bringing comfort and security to my heart.
Security so wonderful it was almost blissful.
I knew I was safe.
I was safer than Id ever been, and
Safer than Ill ever be again.
As long as you were there, I had no worries, no concerns.
I had only you and the stars.
One star in particular.
The one that shined down as bright as the moon when you loved me,
And the one that shined down to comfort my soul the night that I lost you forever.
That is the star Ill remember always.
The star that soothed my heart and put my soul at ease.
